CHOCO LOCO

by Gaël Montero
NOTES: Cocoa powder / Cocoa butter / Cocoa liquor

Hot, sticky, shameless chocolate.
It’s a hot chocolate gone rogue. Triple-dosed, over-whipped, under-disciplined. Call it comfort. Call it madness. Call it sweet, dirty joy in a bottle.

A cocoa bomb detonates.
Bitter dust of raw cacao, thick melt of cocoa butter, the boozy rush of cocoa liquor. Decadence hits fast. Then it swirls darker. Fudge dripping with caramel, sugar scorched to smoke, ginger liquor igniting the cream. Sticky, heavy, almost obscene. The sweetness is not polite. It melts, oozes, and stains. Cookie dough and marshmallow collapse into vanilla heat, leaving a trail of brown sugar sweat and ambrette musk.

At BORNTOSTANDOUT,
every fragrance begins not
with a recipe, but with emotion.

Our creative process has no rules. Instead, it begins with a few simple questions:
“Does this fragrance move people?” “Does it have a reason to exist in the world?” “Does it bring something truly new?”

Whether it evokes joy, sadness, or anger, any emotion is welcome.
The only failure is a lack of emotion. A fragrance that provokes nothing, no matter how perfect its structure, is not a good fragrance for us. And it must offer something the world has never experienced before, something bold enough to break the boundaries of convention in the industry and the tastes of consumers.

Each creation begins with the strong direction of Jun Lim, founder of BORNTOSTANDOUT, colliding with the instinct of the perfumer.
There are no limits in this process. We always tell our perfumers the same thing: “No budget. No restrictions. No rules. Create something imaginative. Daring. Original. Wild.” We never approach fragrance from a commercial perspective, never based on mass appeal. Instead, we pursue the true essence of niche perfumery, an approach to pure creation. It’s a way of working that is, in truth, almost impossible in this industry due to the inherent risks it takes.

Every scent we develop goes through hundreds, even thousands of trials, tests, and micro-adjustments before it’s complete. We never design to please the crowd.
fragrances take months; others take years. During that time, we dismantle and rebuild their structure over and over again, maximizing emotional depth to the limit.

We don’t make fragrances for everyone.
If ninety-nine reject it but one person falls deeply in love, that is enough.

That one emotional trigger, that one memory that lingers, is why we create perfume.
Our upcoming holiday release, Choco Loco, was born from the same philosophy: cocoa powder, cocoa butter, and cocoa liquor, three layers of chocolate built into an overdose of sweetness, warmth, and sensual chaos. A fragrance that fuses softness and wildness, texture and heat, comfort and desire.

At BORNTOSTANDOUT, we don’t follow the rules. We break them. And in that chaos, we discover new emotions.

We don’t follow the rules. We rewrite them.
